Cristina Gherasimov joined DGAP in December 2018 as a research fellow at the Robert Bosch Center for Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia. 

Prior to that, she worked at Transparency International – Defence & Security as manager of the Government Defence Anti-Corruption Index (GI). In 2017, Gherasimov was a research fellow at Chatham House with its Russia and Eurasia Program, where she examined political parties and elite renewal in Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. From 2013 to 2016, she was a lecturer in international relations and European politics at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She also worked as a research associate at the Education and Employment Research Center (EERC), where she conducted monitoring and evaluation of trade adjustment federal assistance projects in the United States.

Gherasimov holds a PhD in political science from Rutgers University. She also studied and conducted research at the European Institute for Advanced International Studies in Nice, University of Wroclaw, Mannheim University, and ETH Zurich.
